⚡ SPARKY’S JOURNAL — BUILDING MY CUSTOM KLEIN TEST KIT

I’ve been slowly building my electrical tool kit, and lately I’ve been paying a lot more attention to the testing side of it.

In this episode of Sparky’s Journal, I’m going through the Klein testing equipment I’ve been building into my kit, starting with the Klein CL390 400A AC/DC True RMS auto-ranging clamp meter and comparing it with the other testers I already have.

🔧 THE TEST KIT

• **Klein CL390** — 400A AC/DC True RMS clamp meter
• **Klein MM325** — 600V manual-ranging digital multimeter
• **Klein NCVT1PR** — 50–1000V AC non-contact voltage tester
• **Klein ET310** — Digital circuit breaker finder + GFCI tester

I go through what I use each tool for, where each one fits into the kit, and why I’m starting to realize that having several different testers can make more sense than trying to find one meter that does absolutely everything.

I also talk about something that’s been becoming more important as I learn the trade: understanding the equipment I’m using instead of simply owning it.

I’ve been practicing with scrap wire and material, working on stripping conductors, making splices, getting more comfortable with my lineman’s pliers and wire strippers, and learning the testing equipment at the same time. The more I practice, the more I understand how much repetition goes into making electrical work look easy.

And of course, we talk about the safety side of electrical testing — meter ratings, CAT ratings, test leads, verifying equipment, proper testing procedures, and why a tester reading should never replace actually understanding what you’re doing.

This is all part of me slowly building both my toolkit and my experience as I continue learning the electrical trade.

⚡ Keep learning. Keep testing. Keep building.
